{"id":311,"date":"2005-03-18T10:16:51","date_gmt":"2005-03-18T10:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.95.25.178\/maggie\/2005\/03\/18\/journal_entry_iv_indentity_and_integrity_in_teaching\/"},"modified":"2005-03-18T10:16:51","modified_gmt":"2005-03-18T10:16:51","slug":"journal_entry_iv_indentity_and_integrity_in_teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.golding.ca\/maggie\/2005\/03\/18\/journal_entry_iv_indentity_and_integrity_in_teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Journal Entry IV: Indentity and Integrity in Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fourth journal assignment for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.golding.ca\/maggie\/archives\/000460.html\">the course I&#8217;m taking<\/a> asks us to reflect on a teacher who acted as a mentor &#8211; we&#8217;re supposed to think about what this person did, how we felt, and how we&#8217;ve grown as a result.<br \/>\nA few years ago at a one-day motivational teaching seminar, the group leader asked us all to imagine a dinner table, around which were the people who&#8217;ve most influenced our lives. He then asked &#8216;how many of you had at least one teacher at the table?&#8217;<br \/>\nEveryone raised their hand &#8211; except me.<br \/>\nMaybe it&#8217;s just a question of what you think a mentor is &#8211; for me, a mentor is someone who makes you feel as though s\/he has taken a special interest in your development.
